The new Chubby Chipmunks update is live in Grow a Garden, and it’s one of the most fun and rewarding events in a long time! This guide will show you how to master the event, including a secret trick to farm rewards like the Nutty Chest and the exclusive Chinchilla pet faster than anyone else.

If you want to unlock every reward, follow these steps to become an expert chipmunk farmer.

Step 1: Get Your Free Chubby Chipmunk

To start the event, find the free chipmunk that spawns in the main area of the map. Collect it to get your own personal chubby companion. You will be randomly assigned a color—it could be purple, orange, or another variant.

Once you place your chipmunk in your garden, it will begin its two key abilities:

  1. Gaining Weight: Every 2 minutes, the chipmunk eats a fruit from your garden and gains weight.
  2. Spawning Acorns: After eating, an acorn will spawn somewhere on the map. Collecting it grants a random reward.

Step 2: The Main Goal – Make Your Chipmunk Fat

The entire goal of this event is to increase your chipmunk’s weight. As your chipmunk reaches specific weight milestones, you will unlock rewards. The progress bar shows you exactly what you need to hit to get the next prize, starting with a Nutty Chest at just 1.25 kg.

The Secret Farming Trick: How to Activate “Nutty Fever”

The key to finishing this event quickly is a special boost called “Nutty Fever.” Normally, your chipmunk eats every 2 minutes. When Nutty Fever is active, your chipmunk eats every 30 seconds, dramatically speeding up how fast it gains weight.

To activate Nutty Fever, you need to submit plants to the event NPC in the center of the map. You need to fill a points bar to trigger the boost.

The Best Plants to Use for Nutty Fever (The Secret)

Different plants give you a different number of points when you submit them. Here is the breakdown:

  • Common: 1 point
  • Uncommon: 2 points
  • Rare: 3 points
  • Legendary: 4 points
  • Mythical: 5 points
  • Divine: 6 points
  • Prismatic: 7 points
  • Transcendent: 8 points

While it seems like using Transcendent plants is the best strategy, it’s actually very inefficient. They take a very long time to grow back.

The most efficient plants to use are common, fast-growing plants like Tomatoes and Blueberries. Because they grow back so quickly, you can harvest hundreds of them in the time it takes for one Prismatic plant to regrow. A full inventory of tomatoes can give you over 700 points per trip, allowing you to keep Nutty Fever active almost constantly.

Step 3: Don’t Forget to Collect the Acorns!

While your chipmunk is gaining weight, don’t forget about its second ability. Every time it eats, an acorn will spawn somewhere on the map. Run around and collect these!

While the main rewards come from the weight milestones, the acorns can give you amazing items. You have a 2% chance to get a Nutty Chest directly from an acorn. They can also reward you with rare items like Grandmaster Sprinklers and the extremely rare Pet Shard Nutty.

Tip: Use pets like the Raptors or a recoil wrench to move around the map faster and collect acorns more efficiently.

Event Rewards You Can Get

By participating in the event, you can earn a variety of rewards from both the weight milestones and the acorns.

  • Nutty Chest: The main prize, containing exclusive pets like the Farmer Chipmunk, Idle Chipmunk, and the rare Chinchilla.
  • Nutty Crate: Contains new limited-time cosmetic items like lanterns, stools, and bookshelves.
  • Pecan Seed & Fortune Squirrel: Milestone rewards for progressing through the event.
  • Pet Shard Nutty: A very rare reward from acorns that gives your pet a chance to use its ability twice.
